    Beschreibung von Audible

Master of comedy Stephen Fry delivers a brilliant audiobook narration of the best-selling novel The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, written by Douglas Adams. Arthur Dent is a very British man having a very bad day. He discovers his friend is an alien and he’s taken off earth just as it’s destroyed to make way for a galaxy highway. To make matters worse, he hasn’t even had his morning cup of tea yet. This ingeniously constructed story takes a humorous look at how something as precious as Earth isn’t always appreciated until it’s gone. A lighthearted and enjoyable listen. Available now from Audible.

    Inhaltsangabe

One Thursday lunchtime the Earth gets unexpectedly demolished to make way for a new hyperspace bypass. For Arthur Dent, who has only just had his house demolished that morning, this seems already to be more than he can cope with. Sadly, however, the weekend has only just begun, and the Galaxy is a very strange and startling place.

    Kritikerstimmen

"By turns authoritative as the narrator, bemused as Arthur Dent, deadpan as Ford Prefect and manic as Zaphod Beeblebrox, he [Stephen Fry] makes an altogether appropriate reader . . . The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy" ( The Times)

    great sorry. bad audio quality

the story is a brilliant hilarious mockery of philosophy that is magnificently portrait by Stephen Fry.

Unfortunately, the performance looses points due to the underperforming sound editing team. the sound falls out always at the beginning of the chapter and at the end. very unfortunate.
the entire story misses approximately 2 minutes which ruins the point of even buying it.
    very sad

    Amazing

This book might be even better as an audio book than as a traditional one. The narrator is SO GOOD. Liked the Stanley Parable? You'll LOVE this

    A perfect match

Fry and Adams - what a marvellous combination. Douglas Adams' classic literally comes to life through his friend's vivid, funny and clever recitation. A joy from start to end, a story so peculiar and fascinating it flows seamlessly into the reader's mind. Highly recommended!

    Hervorragende Science-Fiction Satire

Probably the best story I’ve yet listened to.

The hilariously absurd yet deeply meaningful narrative, along with Stephen Fry’s flexile voice talent make this audiobook the perfect delivery of what I believe must be one of the most entertaining and fun books ever written.

I love it. I love the story and the narration

The story is absurdly beautiful and capturing. Stephen Fry adds so much to the story with his beautiful narrations.

    Disappointed...

Somehow this book is considered a must-read by many, and I have heard quite a lot about it beforehand. So I had high expectations, but ended up disappointed.
It's not funny, just some random stupid names for things, countered by eloquent syntax. Haha. At every turning point of the story some coincidence or deus-ex-machina saves the day...
There is no character development. There is no plausibility for the characters' actions.

All in all it's just a bad story with random "funny" names for stuff from all over the galaxy with flat characters.
