I'm a one-and-done kind of hellhound.... I don't catch feelings....
Once upon a time, my first and last relationship taught me that romantic love isn't enough to stop your boyfriend from trying to kill you. Been there, done that, got the T-shirt. My awesomeness is now strictly reserved for one-nighters and casual hookups.
Besides, things are heating up at the Community of Species Government, and I'm right in the thick of it all. Those bad guys are going down-and not in the good way. They might seem to have the drop on us right now, but we're going to turn the tables on them. Even if it means going on a mission with Aidan Byrne.
I'm still not happy about the way Aidan handled things with my bestest bestie a few months back, even if he did turn out to be right. Plus, there's something about him that rubs my fur in the wrong direction. He's the kind of guy who thinks karaoke is only for college kids and looks down on me for licking my own balls. He also thinks that just because he's the species leader, he's in charge.
Too bad for him, I've never backed away from a challenge...even if it is unnervingly sexy and really bendy. A hookup won't lead to feelings...right?

Now, to the good parts. I loved Alistair. All his dramatics compliment Aiden's calmer demeanor, and he is exuberant and fun. He really shines in this one and isn't just always the funny one. He gets to show why he's a member of the Lucifer's team. And Aiden works just so perfectly for him! He's a lot more calm but never boring - he has his responsibilities and works with those in mind. He isn't defined by them, though, he gets to be funny and flirty and cute. I also like how the story deals with the power imbalance.
As always, Joel Leslie is amazing. He does all the accents and different voices and I have zero complaints.
Cute

I loved the banter and easy way they acted around each other. Even though I would have loved to see more small moments between them to show their connection, like a fleeting touch of the hands, a small caress, relaxing in one another's arms or giving comfort, they felt much closer and more comfortable with one another. But maybe small gestures are just not in a hellhounds vocabulary 😜.
The plot offered quite a lot of new and dramatic insights into the goings on, mostly at the very start and ending of the book, but had little in actual things happening. Still, it didn't feel boring or stagnate thanks to our wonderful hellhound.
" “When I kill you,” Sam says in a conversational tone nine hours later, “I’ll make sure it doesn’t hurt, because you’re my best friend.”
“Awww.” I sink deeper into the couch cushions, not sure if I should be grateful or offended. “Why are you killing me, again?”
“Alistair.” He stops to take a long swig from the bottle of brew in his hand. “There is a bubble machine in my living room. And a fog machine. There are bubbles drifting in fog in my living room.” "
Love the story, not the voice

All my wishes were heard. Joel Leslie read fabulous and Alistair and Aiden with his Irish accent had unique voices. We get a pov from the top position this time, too.
I very much like the new characters indruduced and have great expectations for the next book.
The series just got even better!

Nonetheless, it's still good to pass some time and serve as part of the really interesting bigger plot. :)
Still entertaining, but the weakest book in this series
