In the gripping sequel to City of Dreams, Lucas and Alina begin their new life together with an idyllic ceremony and a joyful celebration surrounded by friends and well-wishers.
But not everyone shares their happiness.
Their young friend Ikarus has misgivings about taking over the lantern lighter position from Lucas. As an ordinary future looms, he cannot forget a girl from his past. Ikarus must make a choice.
Overcome by the desire to find his lost love, he seeks counsel from Madam Trousdale and decides to leave the city. But he cannot go alone. He must take with him not only Lucas’ aunt, but his best friend. The three companions set out with a simple destination in mind. However, the trail ahead is not as they anticipated. Their personal hopes, fears, doubts, and memories will lead to a remarkable journey with a terrifying outcome.
As they eagerly await the return of their friends, Lucas and Alina prepare for their future and embark on an adventure of their own. A hasty decision leads to a secret that could cost them their lives. Beneath the city, a reclusive monk wanders in the shadows.
