great story, confusing names

Everything that makes a Marian Keyes: a great story out the ordinary. Characters that grow on you after a few sentences, plus depth, wit and warmth. Bonus, I love her as the narrator. To me it made the whole book even more grounded, personal and relatable.

A surrogate family after a few minutes

The book was fine but drawn out. I did struggle to finish the book. It was fine in the end and an ending I didn't expect. The Irish accent was a surprise yet it did make the book different than the ones I usually seem to hear on audible.

I love that Marian read it herself... As always, the characters are so well described and I feel like I am watching a movie. I had to listen to the beginning a few times because of the number of characters but absolutely loved it once I got it... It needs a sequence... I want to know what happened to Liam...

I loved the story and the way it is written makes you fall in love with each character little by little.
However I could not stand being able to hear the narrator stop and swallow, this made me cringe and I finished the book but would not hear it again, I also found she did not stop enough between paragraph where point of view shifted making it difficult to follow.

I don’t know what I was expecting when purchasing this audiobook, however the shallow story and missing ‘excitement’ made this a very lengthy hearing experience. Would recommend for someone looking for soap opera style entertainment and a tour through Ireland. Having lived on the green island for 5 years myself - I can attest that also those aspects of the story are shallow at best.

Ich mag Familiengschichten aber ich fand diese Geschichte zu langatmig, oberflächlich und vorhersehbar. Es hat viel zu viele Charaktere im Buch neben der an sich schon personenreichen Familie, die mehr verwirren als etwas Positives zur Story beitragen. Als Hörbuch habe ich es als Englisch-Training gehört. Die Sprecherin war aber überaus eintönig und mühsam anzuhören. Wie wenn man eine Einkaufsliste herunterlesen würde. Der irische Akzent war allerdings eine gute Übung neben den klassisch-englisch gesprochenen Büchern, die ich sonst höre. Vielleicht zähle ich einfach nicht zum richtigen Zielpublikum.
