This book is a mosaic that you watch being put together piece by piece until it makes a complete picture and you‘ll feel all your emotions on the way there. 5 stars for Emily Henry as the author and 5 stars for Julia Whelan as the audiobook narrator 🩷

The perfect mosaic

The book consists of two stories, woven into one novel. There is the love story between the I narrator and her tall, dark, handsome introverted fellow writer, which is typical Emily Henry style. That, I liked. The other strand of action is the history of a shamelessly rich Californian family, told by one of the last surviving members of the clan. This, I found a bit controversial. I don't think, wealth makes a life story more valuable or important. I'm not a fan of society gossip and the fascination with the "rich and beautiful". So, while I was reading the book I sometimes felt overwhelmed by all the big drama and grandiose emotions attributed to the characters. But, fortunately, at the end, the author returns to a more down to earth perspective on the subject.

Book Lovers will forever hold a special place in my heart but this THIS… my heart is full, shattered, open, hopeful. This book is a magnificent piece of art. Go read it.

Literally felt like getting to know the characters in real time with Alice, beautiful ending although a bit tough to stay focused in the beginning (bc characters weren't fleshed out yet so totally understandable)
