Ein Meisterwerk aller Zeiten und auch noch großartig gelesen. Ich kann nicht perfekt Englisch, kann hier jedoch fast alles verstehen was gelesen wird und die Figuren werden sehr gut und differenziert dargestellt.

First of all, the reader is very good! Pleasant voice and it is so intetesting to listen to her. The story keeps you following on and on and on. Personally, I find it very hard to endure the racism - open or more subtle, even badly hidden in patronizing "kindness" - throughout it all, but it is part of the story and its historical background. The characters are vividly alive and develop during changing times. It is fascinating how one follows Scarlet's live torn between admiration for her power and care for those around her and between the disgust for her ever deteriorating character and behaviour. She is so dispairingly blind for everything of real importance in life like love, kindness, gratefulness for everything that is already there. And still, I had to follow her all the steps to the bitter end. This is great writing.
