I enjoyed the start, the first ~10ish hours, but at some point the MC's character started to feel like a doormat. As an example, when Kana comes into the picture, he lets her talk him into buying her food and rummaging through his purchases for no reason, depspite never having met her before. This is compounded by the book offering chapters from Kana's POV that show how much she apparently despises the MC.
And while the sections with Kana are annoying, I can stomach them in hopes of character development. What I cannot stomach after almost 20 hours is the narrators, particularly Jack Smith, butchering the pronunciation of Japanese terms and names. It is extremely grating when you know the proper pronunciation, and actually makes it hard to follow what is being talked about at times.
With the story being set in Japan and clearly being inspired by Japanese media, I am honestly a bit disappointed that the narrators didn't seem to have been given advice/notes on how to pronounce native words. Almost everything is pronounced in a very American way, with the few proper pronunciations only making the rest feel even worse.
So while I've often seen the story praised, and can imagine it growing into something good, this start is not it for me. Perhaps I will check out the ebook version, which at least will allow me to skim over sections with annoying characters more easily. Maybe the narration will get fixed, but at 40 hours, I can't imagine that being worth the cost.
Decent start, but the narration ruins it for me

To the speaker I can only say that for me they were only okay. Some words or pronunciation were a little bit strange but overall was is a good job.
I can only hope that this serie gets more attention and even when you were not a fan of the speakers I recommend to give it a try to read it because it's overall one of the best serie in its genre.
