The Alien Legion has a new mission, and this time, they are working for the enemy. Also against the enemy. Like every operation that Emily Perkins plans, it’s complicated. But plans require good intel, and when the plan falls apart, the Mavericks are in freefall....

    meh, can be skipped

basically no story progression and in itself about 70% identical with the last volume.

    great voice work tough.

Serious step down from first book of the spin-off series

This book seems to be a short-story padded with lazily written filler to make it full length.

    Lots of inconsistencies:
    - Many details that serve the filler padding but contradict details established in the main series.
    - Scenarios that are simply unlikely but serve the lazy plot
    - New technical explanations that are far-fetched and unlikely - either in general or in relation to the universe established in main series.

This author puts a whole lot of focus on describing minute details - if these details are then just careless filler, it makes for a bad book.

    Long winded, partly very predictable

Doesn't come up to the predecessors of the series. Some tedious, long winded and very detailed passages where you can listen for minutes how a projectile finds its target and it felt like hours when the team dropped to the surface until they finally landed. Also, no matter how precarious the situation and no matter how many other folks die, the Mavericks get out of every situation nearly unscathed.

Worth Audio Reading - better than the first mavericks book

Well written and fun to listen to, definately a recommendation if you like the whole „skippy book line“ (even though no skippy in this one)
