steamy, fast-paced, great narration

Free Fall picks up right where the first book in Sara Cate’s Wild Boys series left off, following Nash as he steps into a more mature role—at least on paper. Having taken over his father’s company, Nash shows signs of growth, but beneath the surface, he’s still the same brooding, angry man nursing old wounds. After the hopeful ending of book one, I expected to see more emotional progress from him, but unfortunately, he remained stuck in that same dark headspace for a good part of the story, which was a bit disappointing.

A real highlight of this book, however, was Ellis. As a new addition, he brought a refreshing balance to the intense dynamic between Nash and Hannah. Mature, calm, and incredibly perceptive, Ellis handled the complexities of their relationship with grace, making the love triangle both explosive and beautifully evolving. His presence grounded the story and added depth where it was needed most.

While the chemistry and tension were definitely there, some aspects didn’t quite hit the mark for me. The bondage elements felt a bit overdone and took away from my personal enjoyment. Additionally, as a German speaker, I found the attempts at incorporating German—both in writing and accent—poorly executed, which pulled me out of the experience more than once.

That said, the narration was a definite strong point. Aaron Shedlock, Aiden Snow, and Joy Beharie delivered excellent performances, each bringing the characters to life with emotion and distinct voices. Their work made it easy to stay engaged, even when the storyline wavered.

Overall, Free Fall is a steamy, fast-paced listen that fits well within the Wild Boys series. If you’re looking for a quick, spicy audiobook with a bit of drama and an evolving relationship dynamic, this might be for you.
