The Singularity - the merger of man and machine into a greater whole - is finally within humanity's grasp. When programmer Jeff Lawing gets the opportunity to join Singularity Online, the world's first realistic VRMMO and the testing ground that will lead to the Singularity, he leaps to accept.

Singularity is much more realistic and darker than Jeff had imagined, though. As a Sorcerer, his arcane magic is limited only by his imagination, allowing him to craft powerful spells forged from his desires. As the only Sorcerer in the game, he'll need to carve his own path, with only an ancient specter as his guide.

Will his new powers be enough to see him through the deadliest training quest he's ever encountered or to protect him in a fallen realm filled with undead? Does the have the courage and passion he needs to seize the mantle of First Sorcerer?

I'm enjoying this on the writing is solid and the speaker fitting. I don't like when they are enjoying. Story so far is good. The protagonist is not a dens itiot. I was sure because it is not iskaka but VR but the writing is so good I'd did not notice.

Classic writing and speaker

The main character plays a sorcerer in some immersive game in a fantasy setting. There are the typical elements of the LitRPG genre: character generation with different races (elves, dwarfs etc.) and character classes, sheets with character stats, experience points, levelling, and an overall system that provides missions and rewards. There is also some evil force that corrupts the world. I understand that these are genre conventions, but it all feels a bit generic and other authors have found ways to make them more interesting.

The main character is a stereotypical computer programmer: an smart introvert, who likes to tinker with code and has troubles with connecting with people. While not unlikable, he is not particularly interesting. Since the main character cannot die, seems to be smarter than anybody else, and is rewarded with so many skills and perks that he becomes quickly overpowered, there is no sense of peril.

Der Protagonist wird zu schnell mächtig und besigt jeden Gegner auf Anhieb, die story ist ganz nett, zieht sich aber ewig dahin und die meiste Zeit nicht damit verbracht die Fähigkeiten die erwirbt zu beschreiben. Der Protagonist befindet sich fast die ganze Zeit alleine. Wegen all dem 1 Stern abzogen!

Die Erzählerstimme des Sprechers ging mir unglaublich auf die Nerven. Alle anderen Charaktere oder System Meldungen hat er sehr gut gesprochen. Ich überlege ernsthaft die restlichen Bücher tatsächlich zu lesen um diesem Erzähler zu entgehen. Story interessant. Hauptperson wird ein bisschen zu schnell übermächtig.

As far as I can tell the world building seems to be real good but the Mc is utterly useless and an complete idiot at almost every possibility and even just comment sense is above his capabilities
