In October 2006, the night before he was to turn forty, Rich experienced a chilling glimpse of his future. Nearly fifty pounds overweight and unable to climb the stairs without stopping, he saw where his sedentary lifestyle was taking him. Most of us look the other way when granted such a moment of clarity, but not Rich. Plunging into a new way of eating that made processed foods off limits and prioritized plant nutrition and daily training, Rich morphed—in mere months—from out-of-shape midlifer to endurance machine. Biografie und Trainingsbuch für Extrem-Ausdauersport in einem

Tolles Buch über den Lebenswandel von Rich Roll. Rich Roll ist mir vor allem aus seinen Podcasts bekannt, die stets eine gute Message haben. Nun kann ich sagen, dass auch sein Buch klasse ist.

Zunächst schildert er sein Leben (als Schwimmer, Rechtsanwalt etc) und dabei speziell seinen Weg vom Alkoholiker zum Extremsportler. Vieles dreht sich später um den Wettkampf der 5 Ironman an 5 aufeinanderfolgenden Tagen. Spannend und motivierend!!

Auch die Ernährungstipps bzgl. pflanzlicher Ernährung am Ende des Buches sind (vor allem für Einsteiger in die pflanzliche Ernährung) sicher wissenswert.

Das Buch ist ruhig vorgelesen, mit Betonungen an den richtigen Stellen, wie ich finde. Rich Roll hat eine angenehme Stimme.

Ich fühlte mich gut unterhalten. 5 Sterne!

Motivierend! Exzellente und aktuelle Ernährung!

Als Ernährungswissenschaftler and Leistungssportler kann ich die pflanzlichen Ernährungsempfehlungen von Rich Roll nur empfehlen. Hier wird der aktuelle Stand, zumindest im Jahr 2020, der Wissenschaft zur optimalen Ernährung in einer motivierenden und beeindruckenden Biographie verpackt und mit vielen Details und hilfreichen Tipps beschrieben. Neben David Goggins Buch, dass für mich bisher beste Buch zum Thema Leistungssport! Es selbst Mal 30 Tage auszuprobieren und den riesen Unterschied zu merken, ist die beste Bestätigung und benötigt keinerlei philosophischen Diskussionen.

Endurance sports and nutrition

Excellent book for people interested in endurance sports and nutrition related health.
Only criticism I have is that it took me some time to get used to Rich Poll's voice and reading style.
But that is a personal thing.
Definitely worth listening to.
Helpful little nutrition guide in the Appendix.

Motivating!

If that does not motivate you to get out there and start exercising, not sure what will! Enjoyed the story, reading the recipes at the end in my opinion not necessary in the audio book version... Head to his podcast if you want to hear more about great athletes of this world.

Superb book

Rich just inspired me to get of my 10h+ sitting on a chair job and go complete a triathlon. this will be the biggest goal of my life yet. oh and btw I will do it on plant based as well

Super interessant!

Das Buch hat mir super gefallen. Ich hab vorher bereits ab und zu den Podcast gehört und das Buch war einfach noch viel besser als erwartet. Werde es mir allerdings in Papierformat kaufen um die ganzen Ernährungsinfos und Tabellen nochmal anzuschauen und was zum Nachschlagen zu haben.
