Every weekend, in basements and car parks across the country, young men with good white-collar jobs and absent fathers take off their shoes and shirts and fight each other barehanded. Then they go back to those jobs with blackened eyes and loosened teeth and the sense that they can handle anything.

Fight Club is the invention of Tyler Durden, projectionist, waiter, and dark, anarchic genius. And it's only the beginning of his plans for revenge on the world...

What strikes me all the time is that Fight Club could literally be written in 2018 and don't lose in importance! If you only watched the movie you missed a written masterpiece.

A awesome classic novel

Having watched the movie before, it's fun to recognize all the hallmarks of his schizophrenia. All in all, I'd highly recommend this to literally anyone, gets you thinking on todays rampant consumerism and holds up a mirror to you and all your aspirations.

quite the ride

I had expected the book would explore new life styles and getting more vitality and purpose from them. Instead it is a story of the crashing of an already suffering person into mental illness and institutionalisation. I think the author actually morally condemns his own themes: the Fight Clubs and the anarchistic groups that after that develop. Palahniuk could have made a more visionary and positive account of the people involved in it. Instead he pictures them as dissatisfied lunatics who want to escape from their boring lives and submit themselves like slaves to arbitrary rules a dictatorial person made up for them with the hidden cause to make them obey him.

Fight Club condemnation? By the author himself?
