old school / oversimplified
doesn't take into account neurological science. it assumes that cognitive thought (activation of prefrontal cortex) is always accessible and activated BEFORE/PARALLEL to emotional (amygdala/hippocampus) responses which is simply not the case.
also, disregards social aspects, dependency science and the interconnectedness of human connection and individual well being.
considering the age of the research and the book still somewhat useful, for a few decent tips but I couldnt take it seriously. 😕
