Unvergleichlich und unvergesslich
Ein Freund hat über das Buch gesagt, dass es eines von denen ist, die man nie vollkommen vergisst. Und weil es viele Jahre her ist, dass ich das Buch gelesen habe kann ich sagen: Es stimmt!
Der Sprecher ist einfach super, durch Akzente und verschiedene Stimmlagen kann man die unterschiedlichen Hauptcharaktere alle sofort erkennen und alles ist sehr überzeugend. Ich würde gerne mehr gute Fantasy von ihm gelesen hören.
Kurzfassung zur Story: (könnte ein wenig spoilern, aber nur ein wenig.)
Der Dieb Althalus rühmt sich damit, noch nie einer ehrlichen Arbeit nachgegangen zu sein und andere sagen über ihn, dass er die Berge zum lachen bringen könne, wenn er nur will. Bis er nach einer Pechsträhne ans Ende der Welt geschickt wird, um dort ein Buch zu stehlen...
Dort trifft er auf die mächtige Katze, die er Emerald nennt, und arbeitet von da an für sie.
Und dann geht die wundervolle lange Story erst richtig los. :)

An OK book but....
If you have read some David Eddings other fantasy books, you will soon have realised that it's the same script for this one also,
All his fantasy books are based on the same script, so if you read one story you read them all.
Does this mean it's a bad story, nope, but it isn't a great one, after listening to most of the audio book I remembered why I only read this book once, while I read the other stories several times. "The redemption of Althalus" is a very dry example of his writing
it's missing just about everything that made the Belgariad and the others so good.
The narrator didn't help the book at all, I spent the first few hours trying to decide if I was going to delete the book or not...it's really up hill trying to finish this audio book.
