Pretty much what I look for in a book
If you're looking for an epic 15000 page saga with uber complex world building, character development and a discussion about the deeper meanings of life, then this isn't the book for you. If you want to escape reality for a while, spend some time with old friends and follow along on an entertaining, well-written and ultimately inconsequential adventure, this is the book for you. It's not my favorite in the series, not even my second or third, but it's still entertaining and I've listened to it more than once.

Not great, just good
Not so good as other books from this storyline, but a good read nonetheless! I had hoped for a little bit more tieback to the other plot lines, and maybe some more old secondary characters... I nevertheless I hope the author doesn't make this the last Riyria iteration!

Riyria and more about the Lore
Plotwise it's the best of the Riyria Chronicles. It also adds some more explanations of elven lore. Additionally hilarious Royce and Hadrian banter and ... situations.

Hadrian and Royce on a quest to save a fairy
Michael J. Sullivan did not disappoint me. The Death of Dulgath, the third book of the Riyria chronicles is as entertaining as its predecessors. Of course this is not Pulitzer prize stuff, but it is just fun to hear more from Hadrian Blackwater and Royce Melborn. The witty and snappy banter, their dare devil attitude and the quality of good old fashioned story telling make it hard to put the book down or stop listening.
The story might be a little bit less violent this time, but this did not diminish its quality. Royce is still as vicious as ever and good natured Hadrian might have even gotten a bit more naïve, but both of them throw all their principles over board, when there is an opportunity to help a damsel in distress. Only this time the damsel is the last member of an old noble house and targeted for assassination, but even more disturbing is the dark secret this lady is sharing with Royce.
This is phantasy as good as it gets.
