Good read that deserves a better ending

Peter Kenny did an excellent job reading the story.
The story itself is also very captureing, like all the other previous parts as well. But the ending is wired, weak and doesn't fit the story at all. Shame, for until the last 10 minutes it was awesome ...

I love the entire series, yet this book seems not to fit in so well...
Sometimes it's just to much irrelevant content for a long stretch of the story.

Enttäuscht

Die schlechteste von der Reihe. Verwirrend und ein Stilbruch. Ich war sehr enttäuscht! Der Sprecher war wie immer fantastisch!

unworthy ending

A through and through unworthy ending. The weakest and weirdest book in the whole series.

Flat story and extremely boring book *spoiler*

The Witcher series declined from book 3 on considerably cumulating in this extremely boring book filled with much too many irrelevant (new) characters with their inconsequential storylines which compelled me to actually write this review to deal with my disappointment. It seems that the author didn't know how to pursue the story of Geralt, Yennifer and Ciri and instead digressed to other parts of the world. It feels like hours upon hours needed to be filled with "something" because there was no real idea how to get the main story going forward without finishing it in 2 chapters. And on top of it the author works with the technique of foreshadowing so you are even not surprised most of the time about the outcome. But if the outcome is given up in the beginning then the journey through the story has to be captivating and in that he fails unfortunately completely, at least for me. And even when one visits the main characters and wants to find out how the journey was most of the time they also tend to do inconsequential stuff. Ciri jumping through hundreds of worlds without real meaning (yeah I get it after a couple of worlds that she is the master of space and time). Geralt "suddenly" forgetting is zeal in finding Ciri and "enjoys" life in Toussaint. Yennifer being a prisoner, after a while still a prisoner, continuous to be a prisoner. The lodge of sorceresses being "mighty in talking and doing nothing" and consequentially achieving nothing. And then when I actually skipped ahead in the book a bit (what I almost never do but felt compelled to if I didn't want to stop all together) you encounter in my opinion one of the most boring and stupid storytelling techniques. Ciri kind of decides to "don't fight destiny" (aka giving up), jumps through a portal opened by another pretty inconsequential character who bored one throughout the book with endless dialogues and delivers herself to the bad guy. Yeah great plan *facepalm*. And then of course finally the other main characters getting their act together and show up just in the nick of time. Yeah "destiny" rocks *facepalm*. The story stalls for hundreds of pages and then you get the "finger-snipping-all-in-one-place-slaughtering-each-other" event. And since I was listing to the audio book I was surprised to see that after the main event beating the bad guy was over 4 hours of the book remains. What? What else to come? Oh right, I forgot.... staying true to the theme of the book more inconsequential stuff. *sigh*

Die Story wirkte zu wirr und inkonsistent auf mich. Schade. Worauf sollte es hinauslaufen? Das bleibt offen und unbefriedigend.
