A good Epilogue to the first book - mediocre production

I consider this book more of an epilogue to the first book. It is, however, a harder listen than the first book; since it ties so many ends together, the characters are a bit two-dimensional at times.
The production is also a bit odd, though. The speakers are all good, and they are mostly speakers known from the first book production. However, the speakers read the chapters sequentially. Therefore, it is sometimes hard to discern the various characters, and you are forced to readjust to the speakers for the respective chapters.

audio drama so multiple speakers

The audio book is good, however you should be aware, that there are multiple Speakers. So if you like the style of for example the Potter books, you might be a little disappoontes at first. But I think it is well worth the adaption to the other style.

More talk, less sand

This second part is much more politics heavy than the first one. Although the story is quite interesting, Paul's life as an imperator is not as compelling as his way to the thron.

awsome book worth a read (listen), especially now where we know that the movie series will cut out certain plot points.

Excellent reading, but content not so inspiring

I enjoyed the reading more than the content of the book itself. The plot was too fragmented, and I found some parts a bit repetitive, especially those related to the spice and the prescience powers.
I will nonetheless continue with the third installment.

lack of agency

characters play out their fates, main elements of Dune are just background: spice and worms do nothing, the desert is a setting, not a character as in original Dune. None of the characters get meaningful choices, the plot seems more complex than it is: original characters exist and wait for 1 conspiracy, doomed to fail because of Paul. only the last chapter contains 2 choices that are somewhat meaningful, rest seems on rails and too enamoured with its themes.

Great book but production is a pain...

So, the story is beautiful, shocking, the readers are very talented but... ,

What really kills this audiobook is that production gave the readers full chapters, with many characters, each time printing their own style on their characters, making kind of difficult to keep track of the plot unless you are taking notes... It's a waste of great material...
Either way is a nice story so if you got into it, do it aware of this huge bug.

Not my cup of tea

For me, this was a rather funny experience. The plot does not feel well rounded, and I cannot see where the story is moving towards.

Ist verwirrend, aber grandios und ein absolutes Muss für ein tieferes Verständnis der saga. Ab jetzt geht die Reise erst richtig los ^^
