Inhaltsangabe

From coast to coast and around the world, Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum novels continue to make best-selling history each summer. In the 13th book in the series, the stakes are raised even higher as Stephanie Plum finds herself in her most dangerous, hilarious, hottest, chase yet. With her lovable, offbeat family along for the ride (as well as a few new faces), there's no doubt that the Stephanie Plum novels put the "fun" in dysfunctional. And it's clear to see why they're called "Hot Stuff" by the New York Times - and why Evanovich herself is called "the master".

Nothing new but still fun

It's always a fun time when I can catch up on the adventures of Stephanie Plum. In 'Lean Mean Thirteen', Janet Evanovich puts Stephanie into another crazy situation that allows her to destroy her quota of cars and buildings!

Stephanie should do a favor for Ranger, she should plant a bug on Dickie, her former husband. Of course the meeting between the two does not go well. In fact, she has to be pulled off of Dickie in a wild rage. But when Dickie goes missing and his house shows signs of a struggle, blood and gunshots Stephanie is top on the list of murder suspects.

I suppose that when one writes a series of books featuring the same basic cast of characters success depends on keeping to the formula that worked the first time. In 'Lean Mean Thirteen' it's all back to the series' roots with characters and plot. The thirteenth entry is anything but unlucky. Indeed, I found this volume to be faster paced and funnier than some of the recent double-digits.

This is a great light read, or as in my case, the perfect listen for a 7 hours drive.

If for some reason you want to start listening to Stephanie's adventures here with number 13, don't. Do yourself a favor and go back to the beginning. Many laughs and thrills await you.
