    Inhaltsangabe

"While the history books are filled with tales of obsessive visionary geniuses who remade the world in their images with sheer, almost irrational force, I've found that history is also made by individuals who fought their egos at every turn, who eschewed the spotlight, and who put their higher goals above their desire for recognition." (From the prologue)

    Very interesting, some useful information

Nothing completely new but a lot of stuff that is very helpful if you actually implement it. Inspired me to realise that creating something worthwhile is often not sexy and is just damned hard work.

All of the message is already in the title

Was genau hat Sie an Ego Is the Enemy enttäuscht?

Like so many books in this genre the author tries desperately to inflate a very simple concept until he can sell it as a book.It points out the very obvious fact that being overly self-involved and too focused on your own success and the "myth" that surrounds it is ultimately self-defeating.If you are already a humble person that considers himself to be above nothing and anybody, this book will waste several hours of your time. It will not teach you anything you didn't know already. If you think you have a problem with your ego, it might be mildly enlightening.

Good, but not my favorite book on Ego

    - I enjoyed reading the book
    - it helps to clarify and deepen the concept of Ego
    - but it is rather business and success related
    - I missed the aspect of ego in relationships and personal life a bit
    - my top pick book on Ego is:
The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle

Amazing Book to learn about yourself

I think one step further would be instead to diminish your Ego I would USE the Ego to work for me. for example: if your uncomfortable in a certain situation Inflate your ego to the right amount in order to overcome it and push through.

So much to learn from this about self development
Would totally recommend to anyone interested in personal growth

    Disappointing

It seems to me like the author has good intentions but he's inconsistent and many times contradicting himself. He chooses examples of people, stories and quotes that are out of context and highly interpretable. Not to mention that some of the people he mentioned as a good example are actually toxic people in real life. I only got half way through the book and was quite disappointed.

He also choose to read his own book and one can tell he's not a professional, many times hearing his pauses in a distracting way.

    Great book, but..

I have to say I really liked the idea he is trying to deliver. And he delivered it very well.

But why? Why adding a podcast as the last chapter of 1.5 hour at the end of the book?! If it was not there it would make the book a bit lightweight which I prefer. Makes the message more concise and direct.

At the end, still recommending the book, very helpful at any stage of your career or point of life.

Loved listening to it from the author himself

Really enjoyed listening to the audiobook that's narrated by Ryan Holiday himself, felt more like a personal conversation rather than just another book - also enjoyed the conversation with Tim Ferriss at the end. Good stuff.

    a bore

This is just one story after the other about unrelateable sportsmen and coaches. Not recommended.

    I am very disappointed

I am very disappointed from this book and I would not recommend it to my friends. The book is boring, the speaker is boring, the content about "ego" is far far away from other books like "the power of now" by Eckhart Tolle. If you want to understand your ego, choose another book.
