A powerful dungeon. A sheep-herder turned Noble. Their path to ascendance through cultivation.
Conquering dungeons and using them to grow has long been the most efficient way to become a powerful adventurer. The only thing keeping the process from being easy is the Beasts that inhabit these places. Questions plague those entering this particular place of power: Where do the "rewards" of weapons, armor, and heavy gold coins come from? Why is a fluffy bunny charging at me? For abyss-sake, why are there so many monsters?
Cal has all of the answers to these age-old questions for a very simple reason. He is a Dungeon Core, a soul forced against his will into a magical stone. With the help of an energetic friend, Cal grows a dungeon around himself to bring in new sources of power.
When a threat he doesn't fully comprehend bares its many teeth, Cal is determined to survive the attempt on his life. Unfortunately for adventurers, the only way for him to achieve his goal is to eat anyone that enters his depths.

Coole Idee, mal was anderes
am Anfang stellenweise etwas langatmig, trotzdem gut und durchdachte Geschichte. Ich freue mich auf die Fortsetzung.

Absolutely great!
I was sceptical, never heard a Dungeon Story before. What the hell could be interesting with a static character who just kills anything in it?
Oh Boy, was I wrong….
You just have to try it. Greatly written, with quite good, absolute flat jokes. I love it!
Don’t know if flat jokes says the same in English, my native tongue is germane but some jokes are especially good in English. :)

überraschend gut
Ich hatte nicht zuviel erwartet und war etwas verwirrt über den Anfang.
aber innerhalb des zweiten Kapitels ist mir durch das Können und die gute Wahl des Sprechers das buch ans herz gewachsen,
seine akzente und verschiedenen Stimmen sind einfach ein treat zum zuzuhören.
Betonung, pacing, speechpatterns, ich bin absolut erfreut über das können und Level des Sprechers.
Die Story ist erfrischend und eindeutig nicht langweilig. ich mag die Abwechslung durch den Wechsel zwischen Dungeon und Dungeneers... und bisher, ich bin etwa in kapitel 17, ist das pacing der Geschichte wahrlich angenehm.
ich will so wenig wie möglich spoilern, aber ein jeder der dnd, levelbased games, und die akkumulation neuer fähigeiten und das wachstum in bisher slowpace mag sollte der aufbau dieser geschichte wirklich gefallen.

Schönes Fantasy mal aus einer anderen Perspektive
Sprecher ist gut, für meinen Geschmack aber teilweise zu übertrieben. Story ist gelungen und es ist mal was anderes, schön ein RPG aus Sicht eines Dungeons zu sehen.

good story
Engaging and interesting are the main points for me. The narrator did a good job acting each character even though I would have liked that the wisp Dani would be a little better voice acted. If you enjoy fantasy books then I would go so far and say this is a must buy. For me it is.

Surprisingly different
This was a pretty mixed but overall very enjoyable audio book.
The Story was nothing like I expected it, portraying its fantasy world refreshingly different from the norm. It is definitely nothing outstanding plot-wise but that certainly is not a bad thing in this case. Instead of trying to steer clear of all the fantasy cliches it playfully rams into them.
Vikas Adams makes a good job with giving the protagonists distinctive voices, not sure how flattering that is for a male actor, but he provides the most convincing female voices I ever heard, changing this almost into an audio play.
Sadly I have to remove a star from both story and actor. Sometimes I couldn't help myself but to feel absolute cringe at what and how it was said. I can't go into detail without risking giving you spoilers. However, I strongly advise you: Do the same as I did — use that few paragraphs to get yourself a drink or a snack — the things coming afterwards make more than up for it.
Lastly, you should bring at least some affinity or at least understanding on how computer/role play games work to the table or a good quarter of this book will make no sense to you.

Refreshingly different
I could not stop myself and finished this audio book in one 12h session. Everytime Cal discovers something new I got giddy with excitement. It is such a joy to listen to him grow.

Worth it

Fun but hard to listen to at times.
The story is good but the reader leaves a bit to be desired, gets way too excited where the story does not require it or puts too alien an influence on the characters vocals. But his times was good on the jokes and made me smile at work. a feat in itself. The writer brought in the rpg elements nicely without them being too intrusive or having to sit through a long list of stats mid story unlike many of this genre I have listened to so the flow is not broken up. The language used is VERY American in the names and phrasing when character refer to or insult each other.
