2/3 nail biting action, 1/5 desperate elaborate planing, 1/10 interpersonal relationships and about 2% meaningful story.
as a part III of the series, this novel has gone badly sideways. as a random light horror action novel, it is passable (the social setting of the novel in particular deserves positive mention), if you like that sort of thing.
i personally went from waiting for the actual story to advance straight to waiting for this novel to just be over already.
Ray Porter does a solid job but has not many opportunities to shine, as the novel is light on humour and the characters are not all that original.

If you liked 14 and Fold, then rather skip this one and move onto Terminus. This book seems to be unrelated to the rest of the universe. I worded it like that because I refunded this one (something I do not really like doing) after only an hour or two in. It was unbarable.
Where it fails is that this zombie story needs a lot of fodder which means a ton of underdeveloped characters that the author really wants you to care about but you don't know them at all. I was a quarter into the book and I cant tell you even what the protagonist's name is. Combine that with actions, dialogues etc of said characters not being believable whatsoever and you find yourself asking why not quit just and move on. Life is short. Listen to a GOOD story instead.

I enjoyed the previous 2 books, this one is in no way comparable. This one lacks everything the others have, except Ray Porter, who single handed motivated my to finish the book, the rest is below standard even right out bad.

Note that this installment is very different from the last two - the connection is in fact so loose that I wouldn't have known they belonged together if the listing hadn't told me.

But it's still a fun read! Faced-paced story, lovable characters, and amazing narration by Ray Porter.

A sharp departure from the earlier volumes

I enjoyed 14 and The Fold very much. This one... is plain awful. The plot is unintentionally funny (zombies on the moon. Yes, really.), and the narration is surprisingly flat for Ray Porter. I didn't like especially the voices he chose for the female characters. Every one of them sounds like a whiny, clueless damsel in distress. If you like the threshold series, just skip this one, or you'll feel cheated.

It is frustrating to ear every single character doubt the zombie attack. Nothing seems to convince anybody in the book. Even a zombie army in sight doesn't seem to be enough evidence.

Compared to the rest of the Threshold series, Dead Moon not only lacks the buildup of the mystery of the other two books but also falls short on creative ideas in an otherwise awesome series that Clines came up with. Women characters are still rather poorly written and the overall plot is a rather generic zombie pulp. This has been a disappointment for me and will be to anyone who is curious to follow the characters of the two previous books. Ray Porter is awesome as always so at least there's that.
