as a part III of the series, this novel has gone badly sideways. as a random light horror action novel, it is passable (the social setting of the novel in particular deserves positive mention), if you like that sort of thing.
i personally went from waiting for the actual story to advance straight to waiting for this novel to just be over already.
Ray Porter does a solid job but has not many opportunities to shine, as the novel is light on humour and the characters are not all that original.

Where it fails is that this zombie story needs a lot of fodder which means a ton of underdeveloped characters that the author really wants you to care about but you don't know them at all. I was a quarter into the book and I cant tell you even what the protagonist's name is. Combine that with actions, dialogues etc of said characters not being believable whatsoever and you find yourself asking why not quit just and move on. Life is short. Listen to a GOOD story instead.
It's a bit of a stinker.
