I did not listen to any of the other books of the author and as a stand alone book it did not satisfy my crime solving needs. After listening to Harlan Coben and Jo Nesbo, I missed the big twists and deep connections. I still enjoyed listening, but the ending did not do it for me.

*Spoiler*
The killer just appeared out of nowhere in one of the last chapters of the book and did not have any significant importance to the story. Suddenly we learn that this man was hired by someone that was somehow connected to the first crimes, and he for no reason likes to kill people and bite them. Then, they just catch him and that's it. He is the "cruel and unusual". Nothing more.
