The only aspect where this book falls a bit short of its predecessor is in the department of story. While Conqueror's Blood has a good cast of characters, both new and returning, there are moments where the plot feels slow while it should be going fast. Sometimes, tension between characters is being built by having characters not talk to another, not managing to convey something just once or twice too many, which can be a bit frustrating. That being said, the story escalates quite nicely, and has a good conclusion.
A great sequel to an amazing first entry
