Something strange is happening at Bloor's Academy. Asa, one of the endowed students who changes into a beast at dusk, has suddenly gone missing, and a new endowed student named Dagbert Endless has enrolled. When Dagbert is seen hanging around with Manfred Bloor, Charlie is sure the pair is up to something wicked. With the help of the Flames, can Charlie and his friends rescue Asa before it's too late?©2007 Jenny Nimmo (P)2008 Scholastic Inc Fantasy & Magie Science Fiction & Fantasy

I found it almost impossible to listen whenever Mrs Kettle was speaking and many other characters‘ voices were similarly hard to stand. I much preferred Simon Russell Beale‘s narration.

The book itself is a bit of a guilty pleasure read for me. As with all of the Charlie Bone books: Plenty of unnatural dialogue, loads of plot holes and too many characters . This book series has so many characters that they are a bit flat and frequently have to be „benched“ (traveling/busy/fled/ill/infatuated/hypnotized) or even apparently forgotten by the author to not overwhelm the plot.

But! The magical elements are super fun and creative and that’s what I keep coming back for

Many annoying voices
