Three hundred years from now, Earth has been rendered uninhabitable due to the technological catastrophe known as the Nanocaust. Archaeologist Verity Auger specializes in the exploration of its surviving landscape. Now, her expertise is required for a far greater purpose. If you only want hard sci-fi you might not be a fan, but the story itself is in my opinion one of Reynolds' best. I really wish there was a part 2 though ):

Big ideas, delivered at a very slow pace. I recommend the book although it didn't deliver on the grand potential of the concept of a world within the world.
