Carolina Rain, based on a true story from the author's childhood, is set in the small town of Greenwood, South Carolina in 1967. It tells the story of a young boy making one last visit to the home of his old friends, actually dear friends of his parents, shortly after their death. As his sisters rummage through their belongings, looking for something to take home, the boy reminisces the times he spend with the elderly man, and in the process learns something about death and about life as well.
