Art Palmer, a shell-shocked cavalry officer, has retreated to the solitude and peace of the Appalachian mountains. Journeying to assist his widowed sister in Georgia, Art stops off in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, a town of mixed loyalties in the recent conflict.
