Random House presents the audiobook edition of Braving the Wilderness, written and read by Brené Brown.
'True belonging doesn't require us to change who we are. It requires us to be who we are.' Social scientist Brené Brown, PhD, LMSW has sparked a global conversation about the experiences that bring meaning to our lives - experiences of courage, vulnerability, love, belonging, shame and empathy. In Braving the Wilderness, Brown redefines what it means to truly belong in an age of increased polarisation. With her trademark mix of research, storytelling and honesty, Brown will again change the cultural conversation while mapping out a clear path to true belonging.
Brown argues that what we're experiencing today is a spiritual crisis of disconnection, and introduces four practices of true belonging that challenge everything we believe about ourselves and each other. She writes, 'True belonging requires us to believe in and belong to ourselves so fully that we can find sacredness both in both being a part of something, and in standing alone when necessary. But in a culture that's rife with perfectionism and pleasing, and with the erosion of civility, it's easy to stay quiet, hide in our ideological bunkers, or fit in rather than show up as our true selves and brave the wilderness of uncertainty and criticism. But true belonging is not something we negotiate or accomplish with others; it's a daily practice that demands integrity and authenticity. It's a personal commitment that we carry in our hearts.' Brown offers us the clarity and courage we need to find our way back to ourselves and to each other. And that path cuts right through the wilderness.
Brown writes, 'The wilderness is an untamed, unpredictable place of solitude and searching. It is a place as dangerous as it is breathtaking, a place as sought after as it is feared. But it turns out to be the place of true belonging, and it's the bravest and most sacred place you will ever stand.'

Random House presents the audiobook edition of Rising Strong, written and read by Brené Brown. The physics of vulnerability is simple: if we are brave enough often enough, we will fall. This is a book about what it takes to get back up and how owning our stories of disappointment, failure and heartbreak gives us the power to write a daring new ending. Struggle can be our greatest call to courage and Rising Strong our clearest path to deeper meaning, wisdom and hope.

In a powerful new vision Dr Brené Brown challenges everything we think we know about vulnerability, and dispels the widely accepted myth that it's a weakness. Leadership is not about titles, status and power over people. Leaders are people who hold themselves accountable for recognising the potential in people and ideas and developing that potential. This is an audiobook for everyone who is ready to choose courage over comfort, make a difference and lead. When we dare to lead, we don't pretend to have the right answers; we stay curious and ask the right questions. We don't see power as finite and hoard it; we know that power becomes infinite when we share it and work to align authority and accountability.

After the sudden death of her husband, Sheryl Sandberg felt certain that she and her children would never feel pure joy again. 'I was in "the void,"' she writes, 'a vast emptiness that fills your heart and lungs and restricts your ability to think or even breathe.' Her friend Adam Grant, a psychologist at Wharton, told her there are concrete steps people can take to recover and rebound from life-shattering experiences. We are not born with a fixed amount of resilience. It is a muscle that everyone can build.

Social scientist Brené Brown has ignited a global conversation on courage, vulnerability, shame, and worthiness. Her pioneering work uncovered a profound truth: Vulnerability - the willingness to show up and be seen with no guarantee of outcome - is the only path to more love, belonging, creativity, and joy. But living a brave life is not always easy: We are, inevitably, going to stumble and fall. It is the rise from falling that Brown takes as her subject in Rising Strong.

Good, but didnt resonate with me so much
i love Brene Browns work, my personal favorite is The Power of Vulnerability, I didnt feel that deeply touched by this book, just didnt experience that manu 'aha: moments. i think the maim reason is that The Power of Vulnerability is a series of lecturea rather than a narrated book and Brene Brown being an amazing speaker, it was the perfect combinatipn. yhis book felt a bit more constructed and repetitive

VALUABLE CORE MASSAGE, BUT READABLE VERSION PREFERED
This is the kind of book, in which you have to repeat quite a few passages several times. The pronunciation of the reader (=author) is not perfectly understandable for everyone. The main reason, however, is that the power of some phrases just requires you to be very concentrated in order to capture the meaning. That is when you want to hit the ‘repeat’ button. It is feasible on an ipad or iphone. Less on an ipod. But a book (or e-book) is better suited. The contents speaks to you when you know what the wilderness is from your own experience. I start to believe that we are not speaking small minorities, here. As she says: There is no badge for having been there.

Another life changer from Brené Brown
If you have read any other books by Brené Brown, you already know what to expect – a captivating blend of research findings, stories and conclusions with the potential to change how you do life. Brené (yes, in my head we’re on first name terms. She’s my friend!) has become my favorite teacher and I am always saddened when I reach the end of her books. My life is better for having read her material, starting with “The Power of Vulnerability”, working forwards and backwards on the timeline of her publications. If B.B. wrote it - it’s gold.
