Best-selling author Robert Gregory Browne introduces ex-cop Nick Jennings, currently a table magician playing Vegas and "on autopilot headed nowhere fast", in a novella originally published in Lee Child’s "criminal anthology", Killer Year. Jeff Allin (whose TV and movie work includes appearances on everything from St. Elsewhere to NYPD Blue and House of Cards) performs the fast-paced, noir-ish thriller pinballing Jennings from an organized-crime boss to a deceased ex-prostitute and police informant and into a case involving the rich and depraved he didn’t look for, but found he couldn’t look away from.
