    Inhaltsangabe

The landmark book that has revolutionized the way we understand leadership and decision making - from number-one best-selling author Malcolm Gladwell.

In his landmark best seller The Tipping Point, Malcolm Gladwell redefined how we understand the world around us. Now, in Blink, he revolutionizes the way we understand the world within. Blink is a book about how we think without thinking, about choices that seem to be made in an instant, in the blink of an eye, that actually aren't as simple as they seem. Why are some people brilliant decision makers, while others are consistently inept? Why do some people follow their instincts and win, while others end up stumbling into error? How do our brains really work, in the office, in the classroom, in the kitchen, and in the bedroom? And why are the best decisions often those that are impossible to explain to others?

In Blink we meet the psychologist who has learned to predict whether a marriage will last, based on a few minutes of observing a couple; the tennis coach who knows when a player will double-fault before the racket even makes contact with the ball; the antiquities experts who recognize a fake at a glance. Here, too, are great failures of "blink": the election of Warren Harding; "New Coke"; and the shooting of Amadou Diallo by police. Blink reveals that great decision makers aren't those who process the most information or spend the most time deliberating, but those who have perfected the art of "thin-slicing", filtering the very few factors that matter from an overwhelming number of variables.

Drawing on cutting-edge neuroscience and psychology and displaying all of the brilliance that made The Tipping Point a classic, Blink changes the way you understand every decision you make. Never again will you think about thinking the same way.

    Wonderful book, brilliant narrator

I love listening to Malcolm Gladwell read his books. His voice is soothing to very enjoyable to listen to. Only the musical interludes were distracting, and I am glad to see that in succeeding titles it was cut.

I would high recommend this book.

Listened to while jogging - highly insightful and entertaining

Superb story telling with scientific foundations and plenty of embodiments including life and death decision making - confirming many situations I’ve encountered in my half century old life. The audible reader’s voice is crisp and well tempered, making it a joy to listen to (as a non-native listener)

very insightful and entertaining. The way Gladwell equips psychological and historical findings with a narrative makes you listen to several hours in an instant.

    .

This is very interesting exposition of the knowledge on snap judgements people make in a blink of an eye. I love the stories the author tells to make his point, I'd listen to them even with no particular conclusion :) I wish to follow up on the cited studies, but it is a little tedious in an audiobook format.

    Guter Sprecher aber ...

Die Geschichten zur veranschaulichung sind mir ein bisschen zu lang .Außerdem fängt er an zwischen den geschichten wahrlos zu springen . Ansonsten Guter sprecher und gutes thema .

    Fascinating Listen

I found this a fascinating listen. Not only finding out how your brain filters out the clutter, focusing in on the necessary elements to make a split second decision but also making you aware of your biases.

    Gutes Buch

    Empfehlenswert!

    Pretty confusing

I failed to learn anything new, at some points I noticed myself just listening for the sake of finishing the book.. I was expecting more suggestions on how to use the power of the unconscious mind more efficiently. I feel like this is (just) an accumulation of several instances where the unconscious mind played a role in the outcome..

    Read by the author

    I couldn't stop once I started.
This book has generated great interest in intuition and it's power. Although short, it is nonetheless full of information.
Perhaps one ought to add that this intuition isn't any magical or supernatural ability, but simply due to years of experience in the field.
However, Gladwell does add that feelings of intuition can be disastrous, which possibly serves as a warning for those who believe themselves to be intuitive.

Gut strukturiert und interessant erzählt. Malcom Gladwell ist und bleibt einer der begnadeten Autoren, welche über jedes Thema eine Geschichte erzählen können..
