Ronald Malfi is one great storyteller. What I liked best are the human challenges (trauma and addiction) especially the main character has to deal with.

The speaker conveys the story's eerie atmosphere perfectly.
The tone of his voice when interpeting "The Magician" scared the s*** out of me.

Holy cow, that's for sure an author in Stephen King's range!

Die Geschichte erinnert mich auf angenehme Weise an "Es" von S. King. Es handelt sich jedoch keineswegs um eine Kopie!
Die Erzählweise ist, wie bei "Come with me", bemerkenswert bildhaft. Der Sprecher unterstreicht und unterstützt die Atmosphäre.
Ein empfehlswertes Hörbuch für Fans des Genres.

You have read "It", you have read "Dreamcatcher" - now you know "Black Mouth". Well, sort of, and it isn't necessarily a bad thing. This was my first Malfi book and I get it now, the endless comparisons with King. Black Mouth has all the ingredients most King-Fans love: friendship between young outsiders, love between siblings, the evil in mysterious disguise, the nostalgia for long summers in childhood. And of course the reunion of long lost friends as adults. But as familiar as it feels, in no way is this a rip-off. I liked it a lot, and if you love King you will like this, too. Just don't expect a letsleavethelightsontonightandarethedoorsreallylocked?-type of horrorstory, the spooky elements are imo on the mild side.
