Imagine you hired Corvin King and let the woman read his part
First, I love the story. Very good dark romance book. My first Lola King book and I'll look into more of her work.
Second, and my main issue (my only issue so far,) this "performance" of the two narrators is not like in other audiobooks where the female narrator reads *all* the female voices and the male narrator reads *all* the male voices.
No, in this audiobook the female narrator reads her whole chapter (most chapters are from the FMC's perspective,) so whenever the MMC (or other males) speak in her chapter, she puts on a rough male-ish voice. This mostly sounds stupid. Which is not the narrators fault. Love her voice, she does a great job. She's not annoying in any way.
Corvin King does female voices as well. This makes it worse. It sounds even more ridiculous than when the female narrator does male voices. And I love Corvin King's work. It actually brought me here to this book (from Rina Kent's work, where they actually read in a duet.)
Why can't they read in a duet? Corvin King should read *all* the male voices, even if they happen in the FMC's narrated chapter and vice versa. It would make this review 5 stars.
I'm not fully through this audio book and I'm thinking about switching to KU to read the rest. Only the few and spare Corvin King chapters keep me here.
