Über diesen Titel

When the over-driven hyperdrive on their mobile shipyard burned out, the Chhrt'ktk't abandoned it in an inhabited system along their path, hoping it would work as a decoy to buy them more time to escape the Khreetan fleet pursuing them.

They didn't anticipate how far the pre-spacefaring species they turned over their broken-down maintenance facility to would subvert their plan.

Alex Holder, a retired engineer, just happened to be in the right place, at the right time, with the right mindset, to find himself chosen by the Chhrt'ktk't to hand over control of their shipyard to, simply because he was the first person they found able to interface with it. The Chhrt'ktk't could not possibly anticipate what he would do with it. And neither would anyone else.

The Narration is not bad but not great either. A lot of the times he just keeps going between sections of the story that are clearly separated, as if they were part of the same sentence, but otherwise its not BAD.

The story is not really BAD in any way either, but gets really boring due to bad pacing and the simple fact that nothing ever goes wrong.
No one ever disagrees with the MC, all his plans go as planned, if not better then planned and generally everything is smooth sailing.

Decent Performance by the Narrator, Decent at Best Story

It's a good story but unfortunately there's not enough content. I think the whole of book 1 is only 7-14 days in the story. The story is great, even if I can't imagine all people working together like that xD

My biggest issue with this story is that there is more or less no conflict. The MC just gets whst he wants, and everyone compliments him on how good his ideas are. the biggest conflict in the story as far as i have listend was when the MC didnt manage to flip his breakfast omelette and it broke in the pan.

also, the way the author solves international relations is just naive, case in point how he treated and "solved" the turkish/kurdish conflict and PRC/ROC relations. the book reads like a childs impression on how international diplomacy works.

then the characters are as deep as a puddle, with the only motivation beyond that the plot has to advance. they feel like cardboard cutouts, insert stock american president here, insert love interest here, insert author here. deeper motivations get mentioned but then completely ignored.

i cant recommend this, had to refund this and its sequel.

Interesting Premise, Bland Characters, Bad Narrative.
