O tym tytule
All children, except one, grow up. Wendy Darling knows this the night a boy made of leaves and cobwebs flies in through the nursery window looking for his shadow, and by morning she and her brothers have followed him out of the window and over the rooftops of London to a place where nobody has to grow up at all.
Neverland has mermaids in the lagoon, redskins on the warpath, a fairy small enough to fit in a hand, and a pirate ship crewed by men who are afraid of their own captain. Captain Hook has a hook where his hand should be and one thing on his mind, and the crocodile who took the hand is never far behind. What follows is a war of tricks and small cruelties between a boy who cannot remember yesterday and a man who cannot forget, with the Lost Boys, the Darling children and Tinker Bell caught in the middle.
J M Barrie's 1911 novel is a children's book that keeps catching adults off guard: very funny, unexpectedly dark, and honest about what it costs to stay a child. This unabridged recording keeps every joke, every digression and every quiet sad line intact, from the dog nursery to the last night in the nursery.
