The Portland Fire finish 16-27, fourth in the Western Conference Division, but their 90-82 overtime win over the Golden State Valkyries signals a promising future. With Bridget Carleton scoring 26 points and Emily Engstler grabbing 11 rebounds, the core remains strong despite severe injuries. We analyze whether retaining Engstler and leveraging Jordan Harrison’s playmaking can push the Fire to 30 wins next season.

Key topics include the impact of the injured roster (Holly Winterburn, Nyadiew Puoch, Teja Oblak), the clutch performance of Carla Leite, and the potential of the 2027 draft class featuring JuJu Watkins. Gary and Kelly discuss how spacing and shot creation defined the Fire's success against Golden State.

This episode covers the Fire's division standing, their strengths in offensive execution, and their weaknesses in defensive depth. We predict their win total hinges on free agency moves and roster retention strategies for the upcoming WNBA season.
