Join us as we discuss one of the most debated passages in the New Testament, 1 Peter 3:18–22, and the Apostles' Creed line it's often tied to: "He descended into hell." Did Christ go to preach to imprisoned spirits between His death and resurrection, or is Peter saying something else entirely? We walk through how the church has read this text over the centuries, let Scripture interpret Scripture, and make the case that Christ preached by His Spirit through Noah to a disobedient generation. Along the way, we look at the comfort this passage gives suffering believers: the risen Christ has triumphed, and His people share in that hope.
