Told He’d Never Read or Write, Now He Lives on a Yacht Circling the World | Dr. John Demartini Season 9 Summit Shows: https://hautehustle.com/live Picture an 18-year-old with a crowbar prying open two six-foot wooden crates. Inside are thousands of books, a birthday gift from his uncle. He carries every one of them into his bedroom, stacks them around a little yoga mat in front of the window, and starts reading. This is the same kid who had a speech impediment and had been told he would never read, write, or communicate. His teacher gave him one instruction to say “I’m a genius and I apply my wisdom” every day. That kid is Dr. John Demartini! If you know Jeneth & Lyanca's story, you know why this one hit so close to home. In 2008, back when podcasting still hadn’t been named and everything happened over the phone on telesummits, Jeneth set out to interview every single person from the hit movie The Secret. She got nearly all of them in about six months. Dr. Demartini was the name at the top of her list, and he was the last one she hadn’t landed. Eighteen years later he showed up on our screen, and Jeneth called it a full circle moment. Our whole morning rocked, and here’s why. At age 18 he read a line from Einstein about being a citizen of the world. He wrote it down and said it daily. By 20 he had added his own version: the universe is my playground, the world is my home, every country is a room in the house. Years later a ship called The World began advertising almost exactly those words. He has lived on it for 25 years, sailing the planet with about 100 neighbors. His take on that: the thought you repeat most becomes the life you walk around in. A few more moments we’re still thinking about: Delegate the dishes. He hasn’t cooked or driven in decades. He organizes his days around what he loves most and hands the rest to people who light up doing it. Comparison steals the plot. Measure your day against what matters to you, and the shoulders of giants have room for you. Tears are information. He has taught in 174 countries, and everyone recognizes a tear of gratitude as a signal to pay attention. The woo becomes wow. What looked too subtle to measure keeps getting measured. We said “wow” about a hundred times, and we’re not exaggerating much. His parting words are on our fridge now: The magnificence of who you are far exceeds any fantasies you’ll ever impose on yourself.
