Description

Every morning at five o'clock, fourteen-year-old Chepkemoi Rotich puts on her faded uniform and runs ten kilometers to school along a red road in the hills of western Kenya. She has been doing it for six years and has never been late. She has also never thought of it as anything special.

Then a teacher times her with a stopwatch, and an Olympic runner arrives to watch her race in borrowed shoes two sizes too big. A full scholarship at a famous running academy could change her life, but her widowed mother needs her at home, and some dreams cost more than they seem.

The Road to School is an uplifting, emotional story about talent, family, and the courage to follow a dream, written in simple, natural English for intermediate learners. It follows one girl from a village road to the world stage, and gives every character a clear, satisfying ending.
