Paper can be perilous when imagination comes alive. When a puffing, peculiar salesman leaves Jane Gladys Brown a picture book labeled Thingamajigs, the drawings don’t stay put. A clown with no back, a lopsided donkey, a toothless leopard, and a properly dangerous grizzly tumble from the pages and into Jane’s sitting room—each more ridiculous or alarming than the last. With playful peril and sly wit, L. Frank Baum spins a brisk, laugh-out-loud romp in which a quick-witted girl uses logic and a bold claim of ownership to send her uninvited guests packing. Narrator Heather Nichols sparkles, giving each character a distinct, delightful voice—from the preening clown to the rumbling bear—while keeping the pace buoyant and the suspense gentle for younger ears. Perfect for a single-sitting listen, this classic American fairy tale will charm kids and nostalgic grown-ups alike. Press play for a magical mishap, a clever heroine, and a happy ending that reminds us: think fast, and even the biggest bear can be tamed.
