SOME HOUSES ARE HAUNTED. THIS ONE IS HUNGRY.After three combat tours, Ethan Mercer wants only silence. He sells everything he owns and buys twenty acres at the end of Cemetery Road in Black Hollow, Montana, a mountain town of 687 people where the farmhouse has stood empty for three years, yet somehow untouched. The townspeople stare too long. Conversations stop when he mentions the farm. And the house will not stay still. Doors he locked stand open in the morning. His truck starts with the keys inside. Footsteps cross the floor above him at night, and something tall and impossibly thin waits at the end of the hall.Three years ago, on Halloween night, the family who lived there were found huddled together in the front room. Two parents, three children and a grandmother. No wounds. No poison. No explanation. Only their eyes, open.Beneath the floorboards, Ethan finds symbols burned into the beams, a hidden room, and a copper bowl filled with bone, cloth and locks of human hair. One of them is his.Halloween is coming. And the thing beneath Black Hollow has learned to speak in the voices of the dead.©2026 Jennifer Ward (P)2026 Jennifer Ward Kryminały Thrillery
