When Dan Mercer learns he has an inoperable brain tumor, he leaves behind the life he knows and returns to the wilderness of northern Maine with his lifelong friend, Marcus, hoping to find peace before his time runs out. Instead, they uncover the remnants of an ancient Acadian legend surrounding the Loup-Garou, a malevolent entity whose influence has haunted the forests for centuries. As people begin disappearing and impossible events plague the region, Dan and Marcus realize the creature is not merely hunting victims—it is awakening.Guided by forgotten folklore, unsettling visions, and those who have guarded the old knowledge, the two friends descend into a hidden world where the boundary between life, death, and something far older has begun to unravel. They discover that the Loup-Garou is more than a monster; it is a supernatural force sustained by fear, violence, and the corruption of the human soul. Every encounter pushes Dan closer to death while forcing Marcus to confront sacrifices neither believed they would have to make. The final confrontation comes deep within the ancient woods, where Dan and Marcus challenge the creature before it can fully reclaim its dominion. Though the battle ends with great personal loss and the immediate threat is defeated, the victory comes at a terrible cost. In the aftermath, investigators uncover evidence of a forgotten burial site tied to the creature's origins. As archaeologist Paul Gendron begins examining the site, subtle signs reveal that the evil beneath the forest has not been destroyed—only disturbed—leaving the door open for an even darker chapter yet to come.©2026 Kevin Schumacher (P)2026 Kevin Schumacher
