The most mediocre Lirpg story I heard for a long time, but not awful! Good for readers that are new to the litrpg genre.

LitRPG bingo: - Building a town: Check - Magical tree: Check - Brutality and rape: Check - Morally ambiguous protagonist: Check - Takes one full book to clear a dungeon: Check - "His mouth dropped open when reading his notifications"-Occasions every 5 minutes: Check I've listened to quite a few LitRPG series on Audible recently. This one has quite a few torture, mutilation and rape scenes in it, which I didn't really appreciate. Also many many bad dick jokes. The protagonist is your typical power-hungry american guy, who walks into epic quests and world-events all the time - mostly just by chance. Story progression is awfully slow at times and a single combat might take a dozen chapters to finish. I always had the feeling the protagonist got his priorities somewhat wrong as he spends more time crafting his own weapons than actually administrating his village. "The Land" does have some quite unique and interesting characters though and I did actually end up listening to all 7 currently released books in the Chaos Seeds series. If you can stomach the gritty parts and don't mind the somewhat epic proportions and an ever-growing "to-do-list" this actually has it's good moments. Also Nick Podehl is a brilliant narrator. No complaints there.

The Land: Founding ist, wie man im Titel sieht, ein litRPG. Also ein erzähltes Online-Rollenspiel. Mitsamt Stufenanstieg, Werten, Quests, Loot, etc.
Das Positive vorweg:
* Der Erzähler ist großartig. Ihm zuzuhören macht Spaß. Die unterschiedlichen Charaktere spricht er alle so, dass man sie problemlos auseinanderhalten kann. Manche Nebencharaktere spricht er sehr schön mit Südstaatenakzent. Das finde ich witzig und es lockert das Ganze nochmal etwas auf. Außerdem passt er seine Sprechgeschwindigkeit an die Situation an und erzählt nicht alles in demselben Tonfall.
* Insgesamt ist die Sound-Qualität sehr hoch. Es gibt regelmäßig Soundeffekte, z.B. beim Stufenansteig.
* Das World-Building ist okay. Die Geschichte ist nicht uninteressant und es macht Spaß, mitzubekommen, wie der Hauptcharakter immer besser wird.

Das Negative:
* Die Charaktere sind alle total flach. Sie haben kaum Charaktereigenschaften, geschweige denn interessante innere Widersprüche oder Konflikte.
* Regelmäßig wird der Charakterbogen des Protagonisten oder anderer Figuren vorgelesen. Komplett. Das zieht sich bisweilen ganz schön hin und hat mich mehrfach gelangweilt. Ich habe dann meistens vorgespult oder nicht mehr zugehört.
* Der Autor scheint ein Problem mit Frauen zu haben. Es gibt drei Arten von Frauen, die erwähnt werden: Mutter-Figuren, Schönheiten und blöde Ex-Freundinnen. Der Reihe nach: Die weise, liebevolle, aber leicht reizbare Mutter-Figur ist ein langweiliges Klischee. Sie tritt hier gleich zwei Mal auf.
Die Schönheiten: Wenn sich der Protagonist für eine Frau interessiert, dann nicht, weil sie einen interessanten Charakter hat, sondern ausschließlich, weil sie atemberaubend schön ist. Das ist wirklich alles, was den Protagonist (und den Autor) zu interessieren scheint.
Die Ex-Freundinnen. Wenn diese erwähnt werden, bekommt das Buch sogar leicht misogyne Züge.

Fazit: Toller Sprecher, Geschichte okay, Charaktere charakterlos. Es tut nicht weh, das Hörbuch zu hören, es ist nicht furchtbar schlecht, aber ich bin nicht interessiert genug, um mir den nächsten Teil zuzulegen.

Aleron Kong started the genre of LitRPG, so it is forgivable that this is not on par with current authors - they could learn from his mistakes. I quite like the genre but in this book 10% is the endlessly repeating of meaningless stats. The story has some inconsistencies and, as mentioned before, only a rudimentary start of LitRPG. Don't expect an RPG like world coming true, it is more like a kid playing a game and telling you what he did.

Nick Podehl erweckt die Story zum Leben. . Durch die leicht veränderten Stimmen der unterschiedlichen Charaktere wird das ganze noch interessanter.
