Über diesen Titel
Welcome to Oldminster, a quaint little town where there’s always a mystery to be solved.
Frank Renfield, Baron of Renfield Hall, will stop at nothing to save himself from ruin. Even if that means marrying his daughter off to a rich American. Unfortunately for him, she is already in love with a penniless nobody named Alan Lavender—to the glee of Alan’s greedy uncle Guy. He’s been nosing into the Renfields’ murky past, and he says he’s uncovered a secret. Something so shocking it casts a shadow over Frank’s entire legacy.
Tensions run high at the hall, until Guy Lavender turns up dead. A convenient coincidence for Frank? Detectives French and Edwards are on the case. But in a town full of secrets, the truth can be hard to find. And Guy’s won’t be the only body to fall before their work is done … Who will be next to die under the Renfields’ roof?

Bit confusing and unusual, but still a fun mystery
This book feels like a 1000-piece-puzzle. I've read a lot of murder mysteries, but I can't remember anything else like it. There are about 18 characters and EVERYONE gets the POV at some point or other in the story. Sure, some more than others but definitely no clear MC. More like 7 or 8.
This makes for an interesting experience, since you get a lot of little pieces and clues to put together. It made me feel like I'm right in the middle of things, like I am the main detective and have to solve this mystery. But it also makes listening a bit strenuous. Blink and you miss who's being talked about right now, where this new character came from or what's happening now. I repeatedly wished for a list of characters, just to keep track of all of them. There the book really lacks some clarity imo. Because no, I don't remember this person from being mentioned once like an hour ago.
That said, it still kept me really hooked and I liked the mysteries (of cause there's more than one) and the way they unfolded. The last two hours felt very stretched, the main plot line was already clear but stuff just kept happening. Still, if you like puzzles and murder mysteries, definitely give this one a try!
I think I will come back to this series, my brain just needs a break first :D
