Over the years, I picked up books on the topic that have improved my understanding. Every pick-up-book has some kernel of truth, but often only contains strategies that work for the author and people like him. For example, some authors travel a lot, have successful businesses or are just darned good-looking. Their advice may help a bit, but ultimately won't solve the problem.
The newer books containing red pill philosophy are much more helpful. I can definitely recommend the Rational Male for some important basics, for example.
But if you were to choose just one single book, it should be this one. The largely unknown author manages to take all the red pill and self-improvement knowledge, and put it into practical application. He synthesizes everything that goes into the perceived value of a man, and explains in detail which BEHAVIORS (this is important!) should be especially considered. Much of what I read in this book I have learned through practice, and I can tell you that was very painful. One of the hardest pills to swallow was to realize how judgemental women actually are, and how different the situation of the average young man and the average young woman really is. Those two key points will teach you to work on yourself a lot, and to care less about what women think about you. Every young man learns this while growing up, and this book helps a lot to make that process easier, all the while giving excellent advice on how to think and act to make yourself more attractive.
