Agent Lucas has just reached Lancaster Falls, when the old case of the Hell's Gate Mystery becomes an active serial killer case. Alongside Sawyer and the others he is swept deeper into more and more twists and turns. Solving the case to give his much admired retired grandfather peace for his troubled mind is Lucas' primery goal. But there are Josh&Harry of the Falls Hotel where the FBI set up their local HQ. Admidst all the horror new and old, Lucas and Josh find bits of rest when they are together. The case is steadily escalating and suddenly the murderer focuses on Josh&Harry. Can Lucas rescue who he truely loves?

What a final! RJ Scott has done a superb job answering all the questions that had been bugging me since book 01. Up to the last chapters I still had no clue who the villain would be. It turnes out the real monsters are not from the unknown but the ones familiar and near. The mystery had totally hooked me on. I could have done without the death rate piling up though. I get it that the author wanted to write a suprassing climax, but this felt a bit too much of gruesomeness for my taste. Guess I am more a romance lover than a crime fan.

Sean Crisden narrated this breathtaking final brilliantly. His portait of Josh is perfect as easygoing and loving father on the outside, while keeping his worries and wishes close to himself. Lucas is maybe the most teamworking FBI agent I have come across, blending effortlessly in with the local PD. His dilema to keep work and private apart comes out well, as does the whole suppresing atmosphre in this small terrorized town.
