Based on previously unpublished documents, diaries, notes, photographs, and dramatic interviews with Hitler's colleagues and associates, this is the definitive biography of one of the most despised yet fascinating figures of the 20th century. Painstakingly documented, it is a work that will not soon be forgotten.

The book read like a long but light novel and while it was very well written, I always felt it didn’t do full justice to the evil that Hitler incarnated. The book has an overweight in Hitler’s earlier years, and the war only receives a third of the time. Relatively little time and analysis is devoted to the Holocaust. Having said that, for me it was a very enjoyable read because I have so much other Hitler literature already under my belt, but I would not recommend it for someone who has never read anything about Hitler. Also, the historical analysis and the placing of Hitler into a historic perspective is almost entirely absent. For me the best Hitler biography is still Ian Kershaw’s book. Again, this was a very enjoyable and easy read for me, but this biography is only recommended as a supplemental book for people who already know much about the Nazi era and who have already done their homework.

Very well written, great narrator
