The main problem I had with the 3rd book was that our squirrel protagonist lost most of her proactivity and in this book it takes that to a whole new level.
I assume that in the later half of the book she'll probably be forced to be active again, but that's just too late to save the story in my eyes.
I understand that it makes sense for her character to get lazy if there is nothing to motivate her, but that just means the author waited too long to write some motivation into the story.
I will end this book half finished and go on with thinking that the 3rd book was the last in the series, really the 1st book was the only real masterpiece in the series with fresh ideas and at a time when the freedom of the author wasn't impeded by so many self inflicted rules through world building.
