Both the magic and the class struggle are subtly handled by Abercrombie, while the humour is delightfully rough. It's a tremendous book, as if Friedrich Engels and Terry Pratchett had agreed to collaborate in rewriting George RR Martin.

Mir war gar nicht klar, dass dieses Buch auch wieder in der Welt von The First Law spielt. Ich hab es einfach gekauft, weil es von Joe Abercrombie ist, was mir als Grund absolut reicht. ;-) Ich war also begeistert wieder auf ein paar der alten Weggefährten zu treffen, wenn auch nur in Nebenrollen. Die neuen Hauptrollen sind aber ebenfalls interessante, gut ausgearbeitete Charaktere, deren Gedanken und Unterhaltungen mit der richtigen Portion Witz gespickt sind und auf deren weiteres Schicksal ich schon sehr gespannt bin. Wer die anderen Bücher aus diesem Universum noch nicht gelesen hat, sollte dies meiner Meinung nach erst tun. Man kann A little hatred zwar sicher auch ohne Vorkenntnis genießen, aber mehr Spaß macht es wahrscheinlich mit. Steven Pacey erzählt die Geschichte super mit Stimmenvielfalt und Dialekten. Ich kann die Fortsetzung kaum erwarten!
