Enjoying different kinds of historical narratives this one I find outstanding. It´s storyline flows mostly soft and natural, and is still very suspenseful and lively. I was drawn in by the vivid description of the places and characters, enjoyed twist and turns, everything very believable and inartificial. What I liked most was the glimpses of deep thoughts and principles, but never presented schoolmasterly. Having heard the already very good trilogy of Belle Meade Plantation, this one is my present favorite of Tamera Alexander.
