No matter on what side of the political spectrum you are, this is an important book of this era. However, its main message will be just as true and meaningful in 50 years as it is now.

In a time when hearing the name Trump leads inevitably to a feeling akin to boredom - because it's going to be the same thing over and over again - this book does deal with Trump, but Trump isn't the subject.

The subject is "ethical leadership". And James Comey believably tells his life's story and how the aspiration of becoming an ethical leader influenced his career.

When, in the second half of the book, Comy's career inevitably runs head on into the candidate, president elect and later president Donald Trump, his life's story and his commitment to ethical leadership serves as an impressive contrast to Donald Trump's leadership style and character.

The positive tone and outlook, with which he concludes the book, leaves the reader worried but hopeful.

Ich bin noch nicht bei der Hälfte des Buches, kann aber schon jetzt sagen, dass der Mann, die Story, das Buch beeindruckend ist und der Inhalt wirklich gut zu Comey passt, sehr stimmig. Muss mich vom Hören immer wieder mal losreißen. Sehr spannend.

Unbelievably raw, Comey's narration displayed a tale of dedication to public service, a love for country but most importantly, he imparts that true leadership should never come at the cost of humility, honesty, compassion and ethics. It was heartbreaking to listen to his story of achieving his dream job and seeing it taken away by a man embodying all the evil attributes of a poor leader! It is admirable to see with how much integrity Comey carried himself throughout his entire career and how the pillars in his life, namely his wife/family and his own strong moral beliefs helped guide him through some of the toughest decisions and moments of his life. A must-read for any person in a position of leadership and any individual into politics wanting to understand the non-partisan role of government agencies.

In seiner Erzählungen stellt uns Comey seine lange Widmung zum öffentlichen Dienst und Heimat dar, aber fast wichtiger ist seine Botschaft wie gute Führung nie auf Kosten von Demut, Ehrlichkeit, Mitgefühl and Ethik kommen darf. Es war herzzerreißend seine Geschichte zu hören, wie er seinem Traumjob erreicht hat und dieser ihm leider weggenommen wurde von einem Mann, der genau die schlimmste Eigenschaften eines Führers besitzt. Bewundernswert fand ich wie aufrecht er sich durch seine Karriere benommen hat und wie seine Stütze, nämlich seine Frau/Familie und sein moralischer Glaube ihm durch seine schwierigsten Zeiten beigestanden haben. Das Buch ist besonders geeignet für diejenigen in Führungspositionen und für Politiker die ernsthaft verstehen, wollen wie Parteien keine Rolle spielen darf in Bundesregierten Agenturen.
